"Risks of MLB Multi-Year Contracts"

The two-way play of the Tiger, Shohei Ohtani, is gaining attention, but concerns have arisen regarding his overall physical condition due to the accumulation of fatigue from the World Baseball Classic in the spring and the early season. His muscles are showing signs of severe cramping, and his ability to play a full season is now in doubt. MLB has introduced various rule changes, including the possibility of implementing a pitch-lock and even a double-lock, making it difficult for the two-way play to continue. Hence, Lord Uesugi is also worried.

The most important thing is not to push himself too hard and steadily improve his performance. If he exerts himself too much this year and encounters physical issues, it may go beyond just facing free agency problems. Observing other MLB players who have signed lucrative multi-year contracts but failed to deliver results or ended up on the injury list, there is a growing belief among the high-ranking monkeys that MLB teams will increasingly opt for single-year deals with performance-based incentives.

Shohei Ohtani will turn thirty in 2024, and whether he can maintain his two-way play and achieve good results well into his forties like Ichiro remains unknown. MLB rules are likely to continue evolving, and the chances of winning titles in both aspects of his two-way play might not be plentiful. Therefore, it would be best for him to avoid overexertion, take time to rest, and master the world of two-way play at his own pace. Titles are unnecessary; what truly matters is his presence and ability to bring joy to baseball fans.
